  23. others. You have the luxury of trying out the complete programs, at your own
  24. pace and in the comfort of your own home or workplace. This is not a crippled
  25. or demo copy, but the complete working version of the program.

  27. After you have used PC-File for a reasonable evaluation period (not to exceed
  28. 90 days) you must either stop using it or buy a licensed copy from ButtonWare

  68. 1. Disk vendors (those who sell Shareware disks for a profit) must follow
  69.    the procedure outlined in the "VENDOR.DOC" file.
  70. 2. You may not charge more than $3 per diskette.
  71. 3. The files and programs on the disks may not be modified or deleted.
  72. 4. The programs cannot be sold as part of some other more inclusive package.
  73. 5. The programs cannot be rented or leased to others.
  74. 6. When distributed via a telecommunications link, all ButtonWare programs
  75.    (and documentation files) must be transferred in a library or archive
  76.    format. This means that all the files on each ButtonWare disk must be
  77.    combined into one file - one file for each ButtonWare disk.
  78. 7. If you're copying the disks for distribution to students in a classroom,
  79.    you must provide them with the following written notice:

  114. PC-File requires a hard disk or two 3-1/2" disk drives.  To install the
  115. programs, put the PC-File program disk into your A: disk drive and type
  116.  
  117.     A:INSTALL
  118.  
  119. INSTALL creates a subdirectory on your hard disk and copies the necessary
  120. programs and files into that subdirectory. You'll need about 1 mb of
  121. available disk space to INSTALL PC-File.

  128. If you did not purchase PC-File (complete with printed manual) directly
  129. from ButtonWare or from an authorized dealer, then you are evaluating the
  130. program.
  131.  
  132. We have tried to provide you with everything necessary to evaluate PC-File.
  133. The program uses clear, informative menus. Help screens are always available.
  134. Also, the file "CARD" can be printed to create a quick reference card with a
  135. summary of the program commands.
  136.  
  137. This is sufficient for most people to evaluate the program. However, some
  138. people prefer to have a complete copy of the printed manual.
  139.  
  140. A complete copy of the printed manual for PC-File is available on floppy
  141. disk to help you with your evaluation. It's about 400 pages long so you'll
  142. need a lot of time, patience, and paper to print it out.  Because of space
  143. limitations, we have had to omit the tutorial section from the disk manual.
  144. This was not done to cripple the manual in any way. It was a required step
  145. because even when compressed, the full manual would not fit on a standard
  146. 5-1/4" floppy disk.

  148. The manual on disk has been mailed to most of the major computer clubs, user
  149. groups, shareware disk dealers and bulletin board operators. You can obtain
  150. the manual on disk from one of these groups. Just ask for PC-File disk number
  151. 3, or the PC-File manual on disk.

  153. To keep costs down, disk 3 is not included with purchased copies of PC-File
  154. and cannot be bought directly from ButtonWare. Purchased copies include a
  155. complete printed User's Manual, typeset and bound.

  157. To print the PC-File User's Manual on disk, place the PC-File
  158. Disk Three in drive A and type:

  164. To start printing at a page number other than page 1, or to use a left
  165. margin, place the documentation disk in drive A and type:
  166.

  169. and press Enter. Replace "pageskip" with the page number to start at.
  170. Replace "margin with the number of spaces to include at the left of
  171. the document.

  173. For example, to print the documentation beginning at page 50 with a
  174. left margin of 5, you would type:

  191.     RESPONSE - A user feedback survey.  Very important to us.

  234. 4. On October 5th, 1987, we issued a statement that the aforementioned
  235.    ButtonWare products may not be copied and shared outside the shareable
  236.    Area. Furthermore, we stated that these ButtonWare products may no longer
  237.    be advertised and sold as Shareware, Freeware, Public Domain or
  238.    User-Supported Software outside the shareable Area.

  240. 5. Outside the shareable Area, ButtonWare software may not be downloaded from
  241.    Public Libraries or Bulletin Boards, or copied from CD-ROM or CD-WORM
  242.    disks onto other media, including, but not limited to, diskettes, hard
  243.    disks, magnetic tapes or optical disks, for the intentional or
  244.    unintentional purposes of sales or distribution, whether or not for
  245.    financial gain. The issue of a sale or distribution whatsoever cannot be
  246.    bypassed by claiming that only consulting time or the costs of a diskette
  247.    or labor has been charged.

  249. 6. Any exportation from the shareable Area without authorization from the
  250.    author is a violation of Copyright laws.

  252. 7. Violation of the above-mentioned is grounds for legal action by
  253.    ButtonWare, Inc. for violation of Copyrights.
